A spokesperson for Yahoo has teased the future of Community following the release of the season six finale.

“With the season six finale of Community airing today (June 2), we're continually excited by how much fans are engaging with the series. Now that all episodes are available for binge viewing stay tuned for how we keep Community delighting its fans.”

Community adopted the unofficial show mantra of #Sixseasonsandamovie and has now officially delivered on half of that promise. Joel McHale has already hinted that plans are afoot for a movie but was keen to stress that he would love to do another season. In fact, everybody involved wants to keep the doors to Greendale open for business. Currently, it remains unclear if Yahoo will push ahead with the movie next or pursue a seventh season.

I think it’s fair to say that season six of Community was a drastic return to form, the lack of network interference gave writer/creator Dan Harmon the ability to make the show on his terms. The addition of new cast members Keith David and Paget Brewster slotted in seamlessly with the other Greendale misfits. As an added creative bonus, Harmon found a way to make another cool paintball adventure with episode 11 (Modern Espionage). Community managed the impossible last and was revived by Yahoo after NBC pulled the plug, Yahoo picked a great title to experiment with original content. The sixth season has attracted a much bigger audience on Yahoo than when it was on Network television. Ultimately, more Community from Yahoo of any kind is good news but we will have to wait and see what form it takes.
