Milla Jovovich has joined the cast of the Hellboy reboot as the main antagonist The Blood Queen. According to Deadline, Jovovich is in advanced talks to take on the role in the Neil Marshall directed revamp of the much-loved comic-book character.

News of a reboot dividedfan opinion when it was announced earlier this year. On the one hand, we're finally getting another Hellboy movie which is (in principle) fantastic. On the slightly more bittersweet hand, it's not from visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro; there's no Ron Perlman, and currently, there's no Doug Jones. Formerly titled Hellboy: The Rise of the Blood Queen (they've now dropped the subtitle), Stranger Things star David Harbour will play Hellboy filling the sizable shoes of Ron Perlman.

On the more positive side, Ian McShane was recently added to the cast to play Hellboy's adopted father, Professor Broom as portrayed by the late great John Hurt in the first two films. McShane is an inspired choice for a father figure for Big Red and will bring his natural gravitas to the role. The ever busy Ian McShane will be back for the highly anticipated second season of American Gods, but it could be a while before the ambitious adaptation of Neil Gaiman's epic book returns to our screens.

Now that Neil Marshall is finished directing the pilot episode for Netflix's Lost in Space, it's full steam ahead with Hellboy and production is set to kick-off sometime before the end of the year.
