Given the massive success of It, the return of Pennywise was always a when not an if, and now Warner Bros has set an official date for Chapter Two. The now grown-up and disbanded members of The Losers Club will reunite to rid the world of It once and for all on September 6, 2019.

Unlike the book and the 1990 TV mini-series, the cinematic adaptation of Stephen King's masterpiece separated the two timelines opposed to them running in tandem. While some King fans were against the separation, I think the near $500 million box office suggests that even the most hardcore fan approves. If any further proof were needed, It is now the highest grossing horror movie of all time.

Andy Muschietti will return to direct Chapter Two and It co-writer Gary Dauberman has recently closed a deal to draft the script. Dauberman has become the go-to guy for New Line and Warner Bros for blockbuster horror having written both Annabelle movies and the forthcoming Conjuring spin-off The Nun.

Chapter Two will also see the return of the younger versions of the characters with newly shot flashbacks. Speaking about the sequel, Muschietti teased that there will be some interaction between the two timelines.

"On the second movie, that dialogue between timelines will be more present. If we're telling the story of adults, we are going to have flashbacks that take us back to the 80s and inform the story in the present day."

In case you think that Chapter Two will just reuse existing footage, producer Barbara Muschietti confirmed that the sequel will feature brand new 80s set scenes.

"The hope is we'll find the best way soon, because it?s also important for Andy to get flashbacks with the kids, who are growing very fast. They are an important component in the next film."

There are currently no details on which actors might be playing the grown-up characters, but I would like to reopen the case for Amy Adams playing adult Beverly Marsh.

It is out now in cinemas everywhere.
