We've known for some time now that Harrison Ford will don the fedora one last time in the fifth adventure for legendary hero Indiana Jones. All we know so far is that the sequel will reunite Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg with a release date eyed for summer 2019. Well, prepare for information overload as Disney has released a statement that confirms when Dr. Jones will be back on the big screen.

"Indiana Jones will return to the big screen on July 19, 2019, for a fifth epic adventure in the blockbuster series. Steven Spielberg, who directed all four previous films, will helm the as-yet-untitled project with star Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role. Franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce.

Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Okay, I might have somewhat oversold the information overload comment, but if nothing else we now know that Indiana Jones 5 will hit cinemas on July 19, 2019. By the time the as yet untitled Indy sequel arrives, it would have been eleven years since the polarizing Kingdom of the Crystal Skull entertained and upset fans.

Following his return to the Star Wars franchise with The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford is revisiting another of his iconic roles later this year in Blade Runner 2049. Starring alongside Ryan Gosling and Jared Leto, Ford reprises his roles as Rick Deckard, and if we're lucky, we might finally find out if he's a replicant.

Blade Runner 2049 is released in the UK on October 6.
