FX Renews Legion For Season 3
Fans of FX's mind-bending series Legion were concerned over the show's future when the network recently ordered a last-minute extra episode for its second season. Ordinarily, that might be good news, but with Legion's modest following, the bonus installment was speculated to be the end. Thankfully, that's not the case as FX has picked up Noah Hawley's high-brow X-Men spin-off for another season of brain-busting sci-fi drama.
Based on the creation of Chris Claremont & Bill Sienkiewicz, the Legion TV series comes to us from Fargo mastermind Noah Hawley. Dan Stevens (The Guest) stars as David Haller, diagnosed as schizophrenic from a young age, David has spent most of his life in a variety of different psychiatric institutes. His fragile world is shaken to the core when David slowly discovers that there is far more to his condition than he could have imagined. If you haven't seen Legion, don't let my vague explanation put you off, the less you know, the more you'll enjoy it.
FX original programming president Eric Schrier made the announcement and had plenty of positive things to say about the show.
"Legion has redefined the superhero drama and exceeded all expectations as the intensity and revelation build through the second season. We are incredibly proud of Noah Hawley's achievement and are honored to continue the series as it pushes the boundaries of conventional television storytelling.
We are also grateful for the contributions of our executive producers, John Cameron, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Jeph Loeb with Marvel Television, as well as our outstanding cast and crew of this groundbreaking show."
While it might be an X-Men spin-off, Legion has forged bold new ground in what a TV show based on a superhero comic book can be, and it continues to be as unpredictable as it is thrilling. Legion's second season concludes on June 12, UK fans can catch it on Sky Atlantic.
